Just wondering -- Whats there to fix in Windows 7? Besides speed and a few glitches, not exactly as a big as a re-do as with Vista SP1/2
In all likelihood SP1 will just be a compilation of hotfixes from RTM onward. Nothing too special.

Would be NICE (hint) if it could be set up automatically where are log-on/password would work over there and our post counts/badges transfer over there....

Nothing Wow about it actually, its not like they are going to just drop everything, take 2 years off and then go back to work for windows 8.
Yeah. God knows how long they were planning Vista in the days of XP and if I remember correctly, right after the release of Vista there was speculation of the next version which is known now as Windows 7. It's just a thing Microsoft does. They're probably planning Office 2013 or whatever even now too lol.

Post count / badges were not transferable from Vista Forums to Seven Forums, so I imagine the same thing would apply when moving from SF to Win 8.

Hey, this is kinda out there - and maybe the wrong thread to ask this, but as JMH is talking abt the forums, what happened to the chromeosforums?

Maybe I'm just being cynical, but the past 3 iterations of a service pack 1 for windows have all been complete disasters. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting different results. Keeping that in mind, I think I'll wait for service pack 2 before I update again.

Just goes to show that Win7 was, in reality, Vista SP3

From what I was told by Shawn and John, it was removed due to lack of interest.

How do you get that exactly? Vista > 7 was more then just performance changes. There we UI changes, new features, etc.

The UI and features in windows 7 are all layers over the vista kernel, but it's the same OS.. comparable to a kernel update in linux that happens every few weeks
