I guess I feel good living in the country that I do, as we don't have this problem on a widespread basis. Most legit outfits who sell software are selling legit software.

If I built a PC for $1000, I'd much rather pay a developer for their software than crack it, assuming its the full, uncensored version in terms of games.

But, like you, I have wanted to try Linux and, like you, I said - screw it. I'm going with whomever makes the best products, I don't care who it is.
I am under the impression that Linux being open source there are different variations. I have Adobe PS CS4, LR2 and others. I have talked with people that had problems running these in Linux. That is the main reason I use MS. I still have my old PC. I've been toying with the idea of installing Linux. I'll do more research.
As for piracy..no way. I had a copy of 98 given to me when someone bought a new machine. That's it.

I would ask...if you are using an open source Linux operating system....why would you want to use expensive commercial software developed for Windows on it? There are alternatives in the Linux world for these apps...the question is whether you can accept them and learn to use them or not. Of fourse, for those who would say "Ewww....the Gimp instead of Photoshop....the Gimp is crap"....well then if Photoshop is so good and so necessary, then why not pay for it? After paying the $600...if you still feel it's great...then that is all that matters.

Continuing BSODs
I have a weird problem here. I'm getting repeated BSODs for no apparent reason. As I make regular disk images of my boot partition, I'm able to revert my machine to a known good condition.
