I think most corporate employees have the same issue. For my job, since I am required to work remotely my company provides me with a laptop and they pay for the software required for me to perform my job on that laptop.

My own workstations don't run Microsoft Office as I don't have a great enough personal need to justify the cost.

Openoffice is compatible with Microsoft Office.. it least until Microsoft changes the document formats again to make it incompatible
