if its a browser war discussion my views are.

    chrome - not tried.
FF - is great for blocking ads, plugins useful. However has weird bug where it stutters.
opera - is slow at loading pages not cached, pages that are cached are insanely fast, ad blocking not as good as ff, good cookie management system.
IE8 - got some kind of resources/memory leak, it slows down when running for a while and memory usage goes up whilst idle (also occurs in no addons mode), sometimes back/forward buttons stop working. hard to get good ad blocking working on it, at the moment using simple adblock but its missing ads blocked in ff on same block lists. Browsing however overall beats FF for speed, and it beats opera on uncached page speed. Alot of these problems mentioned did not occur when I ran IE8 in windows XP which is a surprise.

    chrysalis,

when you compared Opera's performance with the other browsers, was that today? 10.50 was just released, and it is quite different than before. The only thing that I've found slow about it, is that at times, it pauses before it even starts to load a page, but this doesn't seem to have anything to do with whether the page is cached or not, nor is it a consistent trait. Once the page does begin to load, it is done in a flash. I do not know if this would be the general behavior, or something just in my installation or hardware?

gotta admit I'm really looking forward to IE9 - apart from the fact that I have always used IE, and have never considered using any other browser..

it promises to be even more closely (- and cleverly!) integrated into the Windows OS, and especially into Windows Seven..

from what I hear it will make much more use of a system's graphics capabilities, and that really will be an innovation..

    - can't wait...

    enough already!

Go debate Opera > whatever in another thread, this one is about IE9.
Why, can't you tolerate a normal discussion? I'm not the only one that has brought up browsers other than IE...and with good reason.
The way your comments are written just invite trolling/fanboyism.

Its OT, not related with IE9, so do it in another thread.

IE9 isn't going to be released in March...I thought November was the plan (at IPX?).

There wont be released in march, there will be preview on MIX and i guess we might get some beta (technology preview) at this point. Everything more are illusions.... IE9 is far from finished.
