Microsoft’s complete silence on the instant messaging front of Windows Live should in no way be mistaken for inactivity. Fact is that the Redmond company is hard at work building the next iteration of its IM client, as you will be able to see via the screenshots integrated at the bottom of this article. Third-party reports indicate that the Redmond company has already reached the M3 (Milestone 3) stage of the development process, although the software giant is not confirming or denying any details on Windows Live Messenger 15, also known as Windows Live Messenger Wave 4, or Windows Live Messenger 2010.

I don't like MSN being "a hub to the social networking services". Because I don't use them and I also hate them.

    They've finally updated the emoticons!

I hope they reduce memory usage though, close to 40mb when in the background! Much higher when in just 1 convo. Even though Trillian uses something like 5-10mb in background and that has to access many different IM networks.

Mines only 25mb. It would be nice if they had regional servers to connect to though.

I'm a big time Windows Live Messenger user and I am absolutely looking forward to the new release. Can't wait. Hope they can optimize the memory footprint. It's really not 'that' bad especially with all the RAM going around these days but I just think it would be nice if it consumed less. But hey, you can't have it all. Greatness comes with a price.

It looks way to busy for me. I used to be a big time WLM fan, until I found Trillian. That's all I need, a nice, simple messenger program...not a program that connects me to half the social networking sites on the web.

Yeah, I'd prefer to just, you know, actually go on the damn website ?

But I'm really glad they are bringing a new one out, especially since I've been having issues with mine.
Hope there's some funky other features...

Problem is, I like using patches and modifying my messenger, so I can get rid of most the adverts and other useless crap, so I'll have to wait a while for those things to catch up
