Windows Driver Kit (WDK) Version 7.1.0 is currently available for download from Microsoft. The collection of resources is designed for software developers and hardware manufacturers to tailor their products to Windows client and server operating systems. Essentially, Windows Driver Kit 7.1.0 streamlines the creation of both drivers and kernel software for Windows. The latest iteration of the WDK comes with support for Windows 7 RTM, but also Windows Vista, Windows XP, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2008, and Windows Server 2003.

I doubt that I would be up to the job, but I'm wondering if it would be possible to creat homemade drivers? Or simply update a 32 bit driver that doesn't work on x64?

Ha, the trouble with this is that an unsigned (by MS) driver will not install in x64 Win7 or 2008R2.

Yes, true, but I vaguely remember that when there were problems installing unsigned drivers in XP x64, their were workarounds for that, but memory doesn't permit me to recall the details.

EDIT: Maybe not. I believe what I was thinking of was undecorated drivers, rather than unsigned.

EDIT: In XP there is an option about whether it is allowed to install unsigned drivers or not. In W7, this has changed, and is whether the OS is permitted to automatically download drivers and icons or not. No relationship.

You can turn Testsigning on using BCDEdit in Windows 7 64-bit.

That's great, but I can't even get the OS installed.
