Nope it makes them a thief, plain and simple!!
    Sorry I don't agree

The law states it is a civil matter unless it's done on a commercial scale ie for profit and seeing as thief comes under criminal law........................

Some countries don't have copyright laws so can they also be deemed thieves?

I keep wishing the studios would change their attitude towards the digital era, that's all.

If you walk into a store and walk out with a CD without paying for it, you are stealing it and by definition that makes you a thief... you can try to justify it, but it doesnt change anything... you are what you are...

What are you on about? Who said anything about walking into a store and stealing? Of course your right because it is a physical possession.

We are on about copyright laws here if you didn't notice!

It was an analogy... Theft does not require that the item be a physical possession...i.e identy theft

It was a really poor one though, that has nothing to do with copyright law.

Theft is theft no matter how you look at it, if somebody steals some software or music etc then they are stealing from the author.
