The only thing I have read that I feel I need to comment on is the car/software bit. Well I see it like this I steal a car I only make money from that car, I steal software I keep making money the more copies I make. So comparing the 2 is a little far fetched. Piracy goes beyond just stealing software or downloading movies for person use. Google can show you the $$$$$$ flow of pirated software and movies. This is what needs to stop and then prices will come back to what we want to pay.

I hope they don't start charging for the sneak peeks I take on the women that are dancing for someone else in a Gentleman's club for that dollar he is waving at her...if so I'm busted cuz they could probably bust me and a few fellow politicians in the same club for sneaking a peek for free.

IMO...I think that everything is overly priced. I do not agree with the prices that the pay/ charge for a movie/game. Even lets throw this into the mix the price a professional sports player gets paid in comparison to a heart surgeon. They are overly paid for said product, why is it that a pro sports player in the U.S. can get 20 million dollars for a 5 year contract and a heart surgeon will make less than half of that for saving a life? It is ridiculous and unfounded and instead of going to the game for $200 you can watch it in a local tavern for free. Is this a form of piracy?.
Reason 1 for piracy...why purchase a cd for all the music that is put on the cd when they as a group are only a 1 hit wonder and only have 1 good song on the entire cd and the producers know this? You have to purchase all 10 or so songs and be stuck with a lot of junk that you did not want...but also if you use something like I**** and purchase one said song...you have troubles placing what you purchased on your purchased item(mp3) player. There are a lot of issues I could get into and everyone knows them as well as I do. So like stated earlier why go and recruit the governments to do something about the self inflicted wounds that they brought upon themselves? I could bring up government backing but we all know that is illegal and still nothing done about it in today's political stand point!

It's all about POLITICAL CORRUPTION and who is willing to pay for it in today's society.
Your logic is invalid; it omits the free market. I agree that sports figures are over paid. However, they are marketing a talent, an ability that may be good for ten years. If you think they are over paid, vote with your wallet. Don't go to games and don't watch the games on television. If people quit going to games and quit watching on television, revenues, ticket prices, and salaries will drop. That is the way the market works.

If DVD's are too expensive; don't buy them. If enough people vote with their wallets, prices will fall. It is called supply and demand. Yes I know there are other factors - monopolies, cartels, etc that enter the equation.

Could someone please explain PROFIT MARGINS?
I don't buy dvd's...no sense in it...It will be on tv sooner or later. I can DVR it and burn it from that. Music, same goes for that. Yes I understand everyone wants to make a buck in today's society...but to state that piracy is all about making money I do not believe it. Yes if there is something I want I buy it. If I want to try something on I do that...If I don't want it I don't buy or use... so how is my logic invalid... I am opt to an opinion just the same as you or anyone else in the matter. Why is it legal in some countries to do what we bitch about on this thread as piracy? And others see it as illegal? Where does government come in. This is a self inflicted wound that will not heal by bringing in the government...all that will do as we have all seen in the past is bring on an uprising of illegal activities...there is not BEST way to control it..if you don't believe me look at the activity in any given big city of illegal drug activity...how do they control it? By underhandedly working with it. You know as well as I do that the corruption in the law sector of today's society is what is keeping it from blowing out of proportion. Some look down on it...others look away!

Trying to stop people from illegal downloading is like trying to stop smokers from throwing their cig butts out of the car window when they are done. Your not suppost to, but why not?

This thread is really fun to read.

For my opinion, I think this whole thread is ridiculous. Not that I don't respect everyone's opinions (I do), its that no one will ever agree on this. I find it somewhat amusing that we continue to argue despite knowing full well that no one is going to change their beliefs.
