Seriously, using a leaked build doesn't cost anyone any money. Pirating software, music, or movies does.
this is only true if said pirate would have actually purchased said item had it not been made freely available on the internet.

how many college students would have photoshop on their computers if they actually had to pay for it?

internet piracy didn't stop Dark Knight from breaking records at the box office.

most people don't have good enough internet to download the huge HD rips of movies that are so popular these days, so Blue Ray is doing just fine in stores.

and musicians make their money touring - you can't download concert tickets.

    really, where's the lost money?

as for profiting from warez - pirate bay is a minor player. take on Apple if you want big money. how many people actually fill their ipods with music purchased from itunes? the ipod is probably the biggest driving force in music piracy!

I'm not surprised that, for whatever reason, piracy is supported by some folks here on this site. But, piracy, along with internet (child) porn, scams, and terrorist groups planning the end of the World as we know it, will change the internet in the future. A few countries have already started this process.

Look I guess the arguments will always go on for years in regard to all this, but at the end of the day if you are going to split hairs then anything anyone does that constitutes a breach of copywrite laws technically is illegal so I guess we are all guilty of that at some point.
At the end of the day if there is something you need but would otherwise be out of somebody's reach and only used at home, no money to be made out of it and otherwise not losing anyone money as normally wouldn't be a sale anyway, then I don't really see that any harm is done.

Yeah, i just heard that on the news.
    Good in my view.
    Pirates are bad people.
Are pirates really bad people. You obviously dont know what your talking about mate. Do you want me to tell you bad people, child molesters, serial murderers, serial rapists, people who attack vulnerable old defenseless people, people who torture animals and yet here you place people who share a game in the same category. Give your head a shake will yer.

As for the verdict what a travesty. The prosecution did not prove anything other than you can access illegal content through the pirate bay, but that is true with all search engines. The courts have well been paid off by these gangsters to find in there favour. It is the usa again trying to control the world in yet another way and yet again we see them for the bullies they really are. It is the same with the war in iraq etc because it is all about the money. I do and I will support pirates for as long as the bullies try to monopolize things for their own greedy needs. Tossers!!!

Edit: I hope the Pirate bay lives on like they say it will.

If these guys weren't making so much money i would have a lot more sympathy for them.
Who are we talking about here? If it's the sentenced persons I don't think they make any money at all, on the piratebay.

I could say the same about the Music/Movie industry But I better get my facts right before I say it..

I just dont agree with people making money out of warez.
Im guilty of doing a lot of my shopping in Usenet but i would never pass it on or sell any of it. Its purely for testing purposes ;-)

Probably double standards i know but that's me all over.
They are NOT making money from warez, they are making money from people/pirates clicking on adverts and buying thepiratebay t-shirts!!!

The minute a dollar sign appears next to torrent files i would agree, throw them in jail, but ffs, this is ridiculas.

They simply used the pirate/warez thing to drive traffic, nothing you or the authorities can do will stop this...

IMO they should either target and shut all pirate/warez related sites or back the f**k off.

Yeah i agree, People who steal things are really just the good guys.
After all, like you have put it, YOU have told me so it must be true.

Seriously, look up the word Pirate and see what it refers to. In fact, I would guess that being a Pirate would cover most of the things you say are bad anyway.

I think share a game is a bit of an understatement isnt it? Why, if they havnet done anything wrong are they in jail?

best laugh ive had all day. I am shaking my head but not for the reason you think.

As ive said, im not against warez at all but i do know its wrong. You do the crime you do the time etc.

    Cheers...Mate LOL.

    They got off easy
Should have been a much longer jail sentence and much larger fine for those thieves.

But the owners have stolen NOTHING, simply provided a place where users can share files between pcs.

If they trace and sentance each torrent sharer i would then agree. Otherwise, NO.

i used to get all my games from torrents and try them first,a single pc game used to be really expensive and because u couldnt take them back if u didnt like them i found it helpful.
but lately games makers have started making demo's and i now try them out that way before buying the game much safer as well because some of these games used to be packed full of crap.
