ARGH! I just upgraded 4 of my home computers to 7077! Do you know how much work that is?! And a work computer for someone to use for testing too!
So, May 5th huh? :)
I want the RC, LOL. I don't have a paid technet subby though.
OK, keep in mind guys, this is only a very, very unsubstantiated rumor, but over on one of the other forums I visit, a guy that is very knowledgeable about new builds and leaks says that there may be a leak on Monday, we'll see...
LOL, it will be here when its here!
May - RC
September - RTM
November - Launch
End of.
The link to download the RC is not active yet. I have NOT seen anything that confirms they have locked the RC bits as of now (4/18/2009 8:27PM CDT). Although I bet it is one of the latest WinRC builds (7085 to 7087). They may renumber the build. They will use the version 6.1 in the version string since that is what developers have een told to use for version check for Windows 7. I am a TechNet subscriber and I am in the Partner Program. They haven't posted it yet. Microsoft has confirmed the RC will be available to everyone on Sinco de Mayo (May 5th).
This is from the partner site: "Download Windows 7 RC
Partners: If you have a subscription to MSDN or TechNet, you can download Windows 7 RC now. Otherwise, you can download Windows 7 RC starting May 5, 2009."
So according to that statement, some will get it in the next few days or weeks. But everyone can get it on May 5th.
And no, I will not leak it early. Now SoLoR might heheh....
The important word is "Partners". Having a paid subscription to Technet or MSDN wont give an early access unless you are a Partner also.
So I guess the majority of us have to wait until 05 May or later for a legitimate Microsoft download.
