Judging by the various Networking problems that still need to be fixed I'd be surprised if the Proper RC will appear on 05 May even to privileged users.

I'll put my foot in this and suggest that the general public (not Technet etc) won't get the public RC from the Microsoft until WE 30 May / 1st week in June at the earliest. I'll almost bet a load of dollars to a bucket full of Horse SH--TE that there still are last minute problems that need to be fixed - particularly Networking.

Without Networking running properly it's totally of no use for Corporate customers to even consider a W7 upgrade.

Of course some other sites (assuming they haven't all gone to jail yet ) *might* have some downloads - but don't bet on it.

Of all the builds running around, False and otherwise I haven't seen ANY labelled 7100 which I think I posted back over a month ago WILL be the "Official" RC.

    Cheers

jimbo45...I am running 7077 x32 and not having any networking problems at all....XP machines are fully visible and can access shares on mine and me theirs....very stable.
I found 7057 to be a nightmare and 7068 was better but network visibility was slow.

I didn't use 7048 so I cant comment on it but so far 7077 is pretty damned good for me.

lol Microsoft are so desperate to get Windows 7 out for damage control that they are making builds on Sundays. I wonder whether the employees get extra for working on the Sunday.

    Hi all

There ARE some networking problems to be fixed - these don't necessarily show up for typical home users - but on a Corporate LAN things like security / password access etc need to be extremely robust.

If you trawl through some of the networking posts you'll see there are various hoops people have to crawl through to get machines with "Mixed" OS'es to see each other properly EVERY time. - Re-booting servers etc is not normally an option in a workplace, and for corporate networking things like passwords and user access must work PROPERLY and securely.

You can't just disable password protection or have the same user names necessarily on every machine in the network.

If you haven't experienced networking problems then great. - I for example have yet to have any Video or Wireless connection problems - but that doesn't mean they don't exist.

For the most part W7 is great, and runs exceptionally well --even the Beta 7000 was fine (gosh how long ago was that --seems like back in the last Millenium).

But there's a HUGE difference in a BETA and a real "Production" type product.

Microsoft want to ensure that RC is as near as possible to a real "Production" type system. The last thing it wants at this stage of the game is to have to re-design / re-write whole pieces of the OS.

Of course it also is dependent on hardware vendors doing their bit but at least you can be totally sure that Microsoft is not going to let the "Official" RC out of the door until ALL the CORE components (i.e those over which microsoft has complete control) as as correct and as robust as they can make it. Another "Vista like" fiasco and even the might Microsoft could be in trouble.

    Cheers

Yeah ,of course there might be problems yet to be discovered ,but I'm saying by me we haven't found any! We have it installed on one server just to do that - test LAN and security ,and until now there was no such problems! OK ,we don't have hundreds of PCs on network ,there is 10 in office and 4 via remote connection and everything is working withouth any trouble so far! And they too are with mixed OS's!
Until now ,only problem I found is with one external drive! I posted it here.
