This is an "unoffcial" answer from Avira, maybe?
Originally posted as comment to Avast blog, under the name Tjark Auerbach.Vincent, it is a pity that you (i.e. Avast) never bothered to start a domain transfer for avast.eu for more than three years now. Like we did with avast.info in the past, you remember? And I have stated numerous times that I am willing to transfer that domain to Avast. But it should be you initiating that transfer, that is how a secure domain transfer between two entities work.
And thank you for the chance to get things straight: I´ve redirected avast.eu to avast.com in 2007 for two years or so, when the Avast guys wanted that domain. Me, as the domain owner, I´ve never received a transfer request for that domain and told you so a couple of times. Given all the protection I was giving to your domain name – and paying for the domain name – I felt that you guys are not interested in that domain which was mid 2009. So I put it back to point to us.
Without a transfer request made by your registrar to my registrar nothing will happen. This is how a secure domain transfer works between two entities. It is not about being willing to release that domain, it is less understanding how internet and domain registration in general works. However, the domain avast.eu was already deleted by me a couple of weeks ago, so it will free to be taken by anyone as soon as its released by the registry. Pity. Case closed.
