We can whine if we want to.
We can whine if we want to.
I no longer drink, but when I did, I preferred mixed drinks. Though there are MANY wines that I have not tasted, the ones that I did never appealed to me. Too many things that I do like cheese with, to want to mess it up that way.
Can we have the browser ballot over here so they can whine even more.
Sorry but I try Opera every now and then and I just don't see what is so great about it.
A ballot is meaningless in terms of determining the best of anything. It only determines the popularity, and since popularity is based on the opinion of the majority, and the majority is usually wrong, a ballot misses on both counts.
As far as you trying Opera every once in a while, is somewhat like me and wine. The fact that I don't like what I've tried, doesn't mean that all wine is bad, it simply means that my opinion is based on my ignorance, rather than my knowledge.
I don't get it.
Opera got a lot of criticism when they raised the ballot screen idea.
Now it's up and running - it is clear that to some extent , it is increasing consumer awareness and choice.
Everybody should be pleased with that.
It is perfectly reasonable for Opera ( or anyone else ) to say - ok, but there are a couple of glitches - the ballot screen doesn't always work the way it should. Like reporting a bug in a program.
That has nothing to do with the quality of any of the browsers - it is to do with competition.
Makes sense to me.
I use it on my Blackberry just because it is so fast over the normal internet browser.
However I have it installed on my laptop as well just because I wanted to see the newest version. They claim it is soooooo fast but I still have to give the edge to Chrome. Also just love how instant Chrome launches and just don't think I can ever use Opera as my main browser. I think I will be uninstalling it now that all they do is complain.
Sorry Opera I just think people already found what they like and they are sticking with it. It is hard to change browsers once you learn to love one.
I feel the same about IE, Chrome and Safari - I'm just content to have a choice :)
Even I'm hard pressed to find many features of which to extol it's virtues.
I don't even use 2/3 of it's 'extras' like Opera unite, built in mail, torrent client, widgets, bloody mouse gestures etc.
However, 10.51 does initially load quickly and browses fast enough and despite using only a limited amount of it's feature set, I'm quite comfortable with it.
Simply put, I like it, but don't love it.
(it did become a lot more pleasant to use after learning you can edit the urlfilter.ini directly. It's like a poor mans noscript)
It is hard, but not impossible. It did wean me off FF as my my main browser
Upon reflection, even though their management sound like a bunch of sour old biddies, I'm not going to cut my nose off to spite my face.
So until something else comes along that suits my preferences, I'll stick with Opera.
