    Opera still unhappy with browser-ballot

Hakon Wium Lie, Opera's chief technology officer, told The Register that the ballot screen is hidden when users download Internet Explorer and the ballot screen at the same time.

Opera demonstrated the problem at The Register's offices in San Francisco, using a Thinkpad X31 running Windows XP SP2.

A spokesperson said, "This scenario is very easy to reproduce in a test lab, but would occur only in unusual cases in the real world. For it to occur with the Browser Choice screen, the user would need to have IE set as their default browser and have never configured it for use. Opera’s example, where a Windows XP user has rejected installation of IE 8 for the year it has been available but suddenly decides to install it is not realistic".

    Seriously Opera, stop whining.

for gods sake... here's the thing Opera, you have only gained 0.02% of the market share because nobody wants to use your browser, live with it,

i actually like Opera, i have it installed as well as firefox, because i love the way you can access WAP pages from your PC, i also have it installed on my phone, because vodafone refuse to accept the fact that i am 22 and dont need an over restrictive content control on my internet, wheras opera gets around it, but im actually seriously considering uninstalling opera both from my phone and from my pc and just completely boycotting them, i can live without phone internet if necessary

Thanks for the article. Makes me ashamed using Opera.

I had fun reading the comments, made for a good chuckle or two. Some were just out there though.

this related thread makes me laugh, shows how unpopular opera is: Opera: Microsoft's browser ballot has tripled our downl so its tripled but you still only get 0.02% increase, dont you think you should stop whining about the big boys bullying you?

I was kinda having fun with Opera until they started this crybaby...junk. *cough* I uninstalled it because I'm royally sick of these people acting like they should own the world. This is just another reason to keep it off my computer.

That's probably what we should do - boykott those trouble makers.

Damn, even as an opera user I'm starting to think twice about using the product of such a whiny company...

But as far as making a better browser goes - it's actually a pretty damn good one, otherwise I wouldn't have ditched FF for it.

I tried Opera before and I just did not care for it.
