Windows 8
Windows 8 Logo
Does anyone know how long until Adobe get their backsides around to releasing a 64 bit version of their player?
probably when 32 bit is dropped unfortunately... as microsoft said, "we won't release a 64 bit silverlight because everyone uses 32 bit browsers" i would guess the same goes with Adobe,
I'm taking a guess (if it is not already obvious and/or known) that Windows 8 will be based on MinWin, and that almost all legacy code (I'm not holding my breath non the registry tho) will be removed to XP Mode. This will make Windows way more lightweight, break compatibility with almost all viruses, force programmers to rewrite their code properly (not so great for discontinued code, but it has to happen), and mostly shut up the more intelligent Apple fanboys.
I barely remember when Windows 7 was released. Sooo long ago. I'm ready for Windows 3000!
This is the classic Catch 22 situation:
Adobe and MS won't release 64-bit Flash & Silverlight because they reckon we don't use our 64-bit browsers!
We CAN'T use our 64-bit browsers because Adobe & MS won't release 64-bit version of their plugins. (& most sites make extensive use of Flash)
How long do we have to go around this ridiculous circle before someone in these companies wakes up, gets off their lazy a.. and does some work?
I'm happy with Windows 7 right now.
I think it's too early to be introducing a new O.S.
couldnt agree more... im of the school of thought that anything that i can run in 64 bit should be ran in 64 bit, thats why i bought a 64 bit OS after all! the very first thing i do when installing windows is change all pointers to 32 bit media player to the 64 bit version, i would even *shock horror* go back to IE if there were 64 bit plugins, i dont like the idea of a firefox memory leak if its got unrestricted access to the RAM (i know its less common in the latest builds, but i still see the odd one or two)
