SP1 is Windows 7’s “Snow Leopard”

    Posted: 21 Apr 2010
e of the complaints against the most recent version of Mac OSX is the fact that Snow Leopard was mostly seen as a Service Pack to its ancestor Leopard. There is nothing wrong with this model. The service pack is supposed to refine the base OS into a smoother, more seamless user experience. Sometimes adding features and always fixing bugs; a service pack is a natural part of the OSes maturity. In the past, there have been service packs that completely changed the game, like XP SP2 and Vista SP1. Early leaks of Windows 7’s SP1 tends to lead towards the non-event type of service pack, which leads to the point that Windows 7 is just that good. It runs well, it runs efficient and, to this date, I still have not come across a virus or had my pc crash.

Not sure what's new about that.

I read an article somewhere with MS saying everything in 7 SP1 will already have been available thru windows update.

    Thought it was common knowledge.

Well, at least for some people they wouldn't notice the difference, but in my case, the Pre SP1 has been my salvation. It seems it got the hotfixes, or bugs that has made my computer faster and more responsive.

Is not that I complain about the current Windows 7, but is that these fixes has actually solved the sluggish speed I've been experiencing, and has made my 7 computer a very fast system.

Problem is... The Optical Drive isn't supported, that's why I needed to roll back. cry

I've tried that leaked version. Didn't have many problems with it. Only one I did have was it corrupting some important Ethernet driver files but for all I know, I someone caused that myself.

Aside from the watermark on the desktop, and it saying I had SP1 v153 installed, nothing else was different. This isn't a feature Service Pack.
