But if you're a Technet Plus subscriber, that 7 cost is actually included with the membership?
No that won't cover the retail costs of 7 once out. What that membership there allows is trying out a long list of beta to RC versions of the various other MS softwares. If you already have a Windows Live id simply sign in at TechNet Plus Subscriptions: TechNet subscribers get TechNet Plus downloads and product keys, support, and more | Subscribe to TechNet Plus Subscriptions | Get Windows 7 Beta Now for all the details including a few video clips on what that offers.

Correct. And you get to download and use anything MSFT has and the products don't expire. The license allows you run anything on up to 10 computers for each product. To get new stuff that comes out you have to renew each year. You get other benefits too but I am not benefiting by helping them sell this, so I will end there. Check out the web site.

When Beta was first released, M$ was giving out unique keys until their servers were overloaded, then they decided to make a handful of generic keys for everyone to use.

If you do not believe me go ahead and google search (already done just click) the partial key that is shown in his screen shot earlier (page 13) in this thread. F2MC6 vs a partial from a generic key I use KW6KY

You can see from these alone that the subscription offers quite a bit leaning a bit more towards the office products as well as server type. But all this should cover quite a few questions.

Nonetheless, it's still an interesting service. I'll ponder some more....

The official RC is exactly the same as the leaked 7100 that's been out much longer than 2 days. Hashes match and all.

Really ? everything matches ? hmm in that case, I would like to ask, are there any significant changes between build 7077 and 7100 ?
