Windows 7: The potential dangers of Microsoft's secret patches

I do the exact same thing as pparks1 does, I just leave it on Automatic, Sometimes I look at them but I after I look at them I usually select all of them.

I did have one problem, Windows Update wanted to update my audio driver, it was released this year, and I went ahead and installed it, after I restarted no audio, but I know what the problem was and un-installed it restarted and my audio was back. Then I just un-checked the update so it would not try to update again, so far that was the only issue I have had.

I do see why people and business choose the updates they want, because there could be a conflict between one of there programs and the update.

But as an end user, I always suggest to leave it at automatic and if there is an issue, usually you can trace it back to one of the updates.
