Money is an issue I will agree with that, and so is time to implement all of the many things that business need to make employees work more productive and work with up to date software and hardware.
WindowsStar, do you think by 2014 your businesses or any other business will be off of XP?
By 2014, I hope so...
We really have no choice. Q4 of this year we will be in full deployment of Windows 7. We hope to have all systems converted buy end of year 2014. We are hoping for a 7 to 9 year life for Windows 7 as we got with Windows XP.
BTW, we still have DOS, Windows for Workgroups, and Windows NT machines in our system. Mind you very few but some just could not be converted to XP. With the 7 rollout we are working hard to remove all legacy OS’s and have a true Windows 7 only environment
It would probably be a smart idea for companies to standardize on one OS, and now is as good a time for that as any.
In my point of view, a home user could be getting a new system because their old one is to old or completely out of memory.. but they don't really want the new windows, since the stuff they have (printers, scanners, faxes, etc) are all set for XP and probably at the time were made to be used with 2000-XP and wont work with vista or 7 so they downgrade their new machines so they cans till use the stuff and not have to worry bout going out and buying new scanners printers copiers whatever.
This is based off a printer/fax/copier/scanner my homie has for his XP machine, it wouldn't install on my Win7 machine at all. Me personally, i absolutely LOVE win7. its not complex and its easier to use then XP to me, so if i had to downgrade to xp again, id laugh and say No, fudge your face. Id rather go without my laptop then use XP again. plus everyone i know that has XP, all want 7 because they don't like the XP, they want better.
