Hehe... can't imagine looking at Windows with Aero turned off
Hopefully they'll get a patch quick. For the mean time I'll leave Aero enabled. Doesn't sound to serious
Nice find
Thanks
Source -While a vulnerability does exist in the latest Windows client and server platforms with Aero enabled, actually getting exploit code to work and performing successful attacks are not likely to happen. Microsoft downplayed the risk users of Windows 7 64-bit, Windows Server 2008 R2 for 64-bit systems and Windows Server 2008 R2 Itanium systems were exposed to, indicating that the new zero-day, for which details had been disclosed in the wild, was extremely hard to exploit. At the same time, the Redmond company underlined that it was not aware of any attacks targeting the flaw, or of exploit code capable of reaching execution.
Jerry Bryant, group manager, Response Communications, Microsoft, revealed that the new security hole resided in the Windows Canonical Display Driver (cdd.dll). Microsoft has already published Security Advisory 2028859, informing customers of the issue and offering advice on how to stay protected until a patch is offered.

I dont get it...
I am using windows 7 64-bit
Is that alright?
And what the hell is Aero?
How can i find out if it's turned on or off?
@BeyLIN : Seriously, go into Personalization and change to one of the nice themes that came w/ and should change instantly. If not you get warning to enable Aero.
occasionally stop my system responding and cause it to automatically restart? OH NOES! because Windows NEVER does that..... pfft i will be leaving Aero on, good luck getting through my security. Thanks for the heads up JMH
Isn't this the exact type of thing that DEP is supposed to prevent?
DEP (Data Execution Prevention) works on system memory + UAC (User Account Control) works on programs + Windows Firewall + Windows Defender + AV.... And some still find ways to attack!?! Yeah i'm as severedsolo...good luck + i've no shorcuts on my desktop. If they do mind my Wallpaper, why not!:) Good news JMH...
I don't think I'll lose any sleep over this one. Aero stays on.

Here's a real answer for you - Explore the features: Windows Aero
Good luck
I won't lose sleep. Such an intruder has a 1 in 4,294,967,296 chance of finding me to begin with. Then has to successfully execute his horrid code.
I think I'll be safe until they patch it.
