Microsoft seeking feedback for Internet Explorer 9

    Posted: 06 May 2009
Now that Internet Explorer 8 has reached RTM, it's time to move on to the research and planning phase of Internet Explorer 9. Was there something in IE8 that wasn't fixed or a new bug you've found? Well the IE8 team is seeking your feedback (If you had access to the Microsoft Connect website during the beta).

    Let me start!

    1. Needs to boot up faster. Firefox starts up like 1-3 seconds while IE seems to take at least twice as long.

    2. Overall speed is not even close as fast as Safari or Firefox in overall internet viewing from what I have noticed.

    3. I have not really used IE8 a bunch but I can already say I am not a huge fan of book mark layout and how you create bookmarks. IE6 is very easy to use in that respect.

    4. For whatever reason I have noticed that IE8 just picks up spyware and unwanted cookies way more often than Firefox.

    5. I think they just need to redo it from the ground up and use 100% new code and just try and make it less suck more good!

I say scrap the whole internet explorer thing and go back to the drawing board and develop a whole new one that is unrelated to the IE family. I think it is a terrible browser, has always been a terrible browser and will always be a terrible browser, especially when you consider it is developed by the biggest software company on the planet.

IE for me has always been like trying to drive the garden shed through narrow country lanes, slow and cumbersome.

    Thanks anyway.

N.B chrome is the way forward!

MS should buy Mozilla, put FF as the default web browser in their OSs and call it IE9. lol

    Hi there

IE9 should get back to basics

NO "pre defined" plugins, no stupid "Accelerators", etc etc.

The browser should just be a Browser -- no more and no less. That way it would be lightning fast.

Provide an API for any 3rd party plugins -- you'll kill 99% of viruses and nasties with this.

If people want to run scripts, adobe reader, multi media etc then this should be launched as a separate app -- not run from within the browser itself.

    Cheers

If you guys want to send some feedback to Microsoft like you did in the Beta, you can download the working desktop shortcut from my sig bellow.

Then you can stick it to them and know that they might actually read it and possibly implement some positive change.
