The main reason for this report is Vista isn't that bad. Vista is fine. Windows 7 is a bit faster especially with opening system apps. It does not surprise me that Vista and Seven aren't much different on these tests. It's because Vista is a good OS too!
windows vista had a rough start and got a bad name. its still doesnt have quite all the bugs worked out, but it has certainly come a long way from where it originally got its bad rep from. problem was it was horrible when it came out as well as the compatibility issues with EVERYTHING, i dont see all that much of a difference between current vista, and win7, i do prefer 7, little things make it much nicer. I pretty much look at windows 7 as the next release of vista....
58 secs. MUCH faster than Vista.
Seven feels way more refined. The search feature is definitely faster and more accurate than Vista's.
I have been using 7 for a while now and I think it is faster?
I don't believe this review that much.
Vista was fine, but 7 just seems better!
Up until the RCs anything seen has been a large skeleton of the actual Windows to be seen once out. The beta builds were not fully integrated will all services running and all features enabled which will see the normal increase in memory used.
The kernel itself however is what now realizes the much needed refinement over what Vista saw there while Vista is generally far more secure then any previous version you compare it against. XP is full of security holes at this point and sadly took a third SP to see all the bugs there worked out! 1,000+ fixes in SP3!

the numbers could show that there's not that much difference in speed, but the feel tells me that se7en is a lot snappier and more responsive. and I surely love the booting up boost, especially with sidebar.
