This is just madness. If this spreads to other countries I would seriously think twice about having the internet in my home at all. Why should I pay for the privilege to spied on? You can bet here in the UK it would be abused to catch lots of "petty" crimes and make criminals out of innocent people. I am really wondering what is happening to this world?

I thought it was 2010...did we somehow slip into 1984?
That's the bitter irony - 1984 warned of the dangers of the adverse actions to a populous a 'Big Brother' controlled government like this could cause.

Someone, somewhere missed Orwell's point entirely and thought it was a manual on how to run a government.

I cannot believe this. No I can't. How the hell has this happening in this country. Soon there will be no point in the internet as there will probably not be one anymore.

The end of ze world is nigh.

It's just too easy to pull over peoples eyes. Mention a few "scary" words and you have them controlled. Governments have been using this formula since..... well, the beginning of politics.

95% of the population don't even know this is going on. Everyone's too distracted.

Don't think for a minute this can't happen here in the US. As we speak the Gov't is pressing the FAA to allow unmanned drones to fly around the country to aid in border control and to help local police forces to catch "criminals" on the run. We'll see how this one gets abused too!!

Here is a link to that story: FAA Pressed to Allow Drone Flights in U.S. - CBS News

Just say "Patriot Act" All your US rights went, when that was signed, just like our rights have gone over here.

    Nineteen Eighty-Four published in 1949.

The scene of the book is laid in Britain in order to emphasize that the English-speaking races are not innately better than anyone else, and that totalitarianism, if not fought against, could triumph anywhere.

    Hi guys

I was just reading the threads - trying to catch up on this topic and what sprung to mind, is -i wonder how long will it be before some nut suggests that we are injected with some tracking device -
The way things are going it's only a matter of time. "God help us"

    Regards
