And yeah, 2010 is much better than 2007, especially if you have 64-bit Windows.

When I first saw the ribbon bar, and tried to use it, I could find nothing. It was EXTREMELY counter intuitive, and the layout made no sense.

TBH I don't see any difference between a 32-bit OS and a 64-OS.

The only difference that I have seen is that some software will not work on a 64-bit OS and in reality it has actually made my PC less user freindly and usefull.

Y'know you can customize the layout of the ribbon right? Anyway, I think it's easier than digging through an endless tree of submenus...

Yeah, but the sub menus made sense, and I was used to it.

Also, the ribbon bar has never really been customizable. Not as far as I could tell.
At least not the parts I would change...

Well, yeah, if you would change it by putting it back in submenus! Hey, I was used to the submenus too, being an Office user since Word 97, but I could never figure out anything advanced until the ribbon came along.

I've gotten used to it, but find that I generally have difficulty finding things even though it's been on my work laptop now for over 1.5 years.

I would rather just have them give the option.

I actually like how office 2010 is, but I just wish that it was FULLY customizable. Like you could delete all the tabs and make your own, with your own sections, etc.
I would probably use that, with all my most used things up at the first tab, then categorically.

I think some people are just sensitive to screen real estate issues. Even with multiple monitors and such I like to have as much screen space as possible for the actual work with as little for menus and such as i can get away with.

Even with Firefox, I often hit F11 and maximize the screen space and use the forward and back buttons and such on my mouse to navigate in order to have a few more inches overall for thread viewing, etc.

Yeah, I don't really care about screen real estate at all. I don't even have my taskbar set to autohide.

I have 2003 from my work. So rarely use it I won't update. But was happy to find it fully compatible with 7 x64. A Guy

I don't really see how it's any more intuitive than the old menus, unless you count making the icons and wording bigger as intuitive. As far as 2010 goes, I think that we're just going a little overboard with tabbed interfaces these days. Many of my customers get confused and don't realize they are just on the wrong tab.

I don't know, I guess I'm on the fence about it. I'm all for updating the look and feel of software, but radical changes don't always equal greater productivity.

Agreed, but pretty much every piece of software out there is showing that UI elements like tabs are the way of the future (or at least the next decade ). People will get used to it eventually, cause MS is not going to go back to the old design techniques, and can you imagine the outrage if they did that after everyone learned the new stuff?
