If this wasn't such a publicity and marketing stunt, I would do it.

But by asking for an email, and by making you set it to your home page, no. I would rather give a homeless guy a warm meal. Would probably do just as much good, and I wouldn't get more email from MS or have to use freaking Bing.

Just what I wanted to ask.:

How long does Bing have to stay on as your Homepage for the donation to take affect?

Can I just set it in Internet Explorer 8, even though I never use it except the one time to set my Homepage temporarily as Bing?

Edit: Did not know you needed an email address for this donation.

On second thought, I think I'll just keep my Google Homepage.

Doesn't everyone have a throwaway email ? I did the donation and it never even changed my page. I got 2 emails, one from bing, one from donorschoose.org, they just said Thanks.

This topic's title isn't accurate since you change your search provider, not your homepage. The webpage itself even says it's only changing the default search provider. Once you make the change, you can just change it back to your last default search provider. As for the email, it's not that big of a deal. It just sends you one little message and that's it. If you really don't want to give away your email, just make what someone here called a throwaway email account and use that.

I am sorry, mistake is mine. I have no excuse, I knew it to be about search engine so I have no clue why I said it to be home page.

Dude, don't worry about it, it's fine (that wasn't even directed at you. It was more for those who kept saying they didn't want to change their homepage). Can you edit the title or the first post, or is it too late at this point?
