M1 could be dual booted. I just hope this is a proper install, not an upgrade which required me to install vista on another partition and then upgrade to Windows 7, like M1 and M2.
Can't wait, I had Vista B2 and that was pretty much close to the final build. Had a fair few bugs, but I didn't mind..

    but....but...that's where Linux lives....

I'm already tri-booting Vista, Ubuntu and Opensuse 11. I'm running out of hard drives.... lol. I would be happy to ditch Opensuse 11.0 though. I never use it, but I do like the Grub menu

Seriously though, I just wondered if installing a beta wouldn't wreck the MBR, Grub loader etc. Mainly because it is a 'beta'.

I think it would kill grub.

That's what I was worried about. Although I should be able to repair grub afterwards. PITA that it can sometimes be.

Time will tell. Just wait for the post 'W7 ate my grub'

I've already got three in there. There's no more room at the inn!:)

A seperate partition should be fine. Now where's that beta?.....

Some folk will be getting the alpha any time now

PC World - Ballmer: Windows 7 Is Vista, Just 'a Lot Better'

Windows 7, which Microsoft has said would be out in the latter part of 2009 or early 2010, will debut as an alpha in less than two weeks, when the company hands it to attendees at its Professional Developers Conference (PDC), which opens Oct. 27 in Los Angeles.

Microsoft: Developers will get Windows 7 alpha next month

Unfortunately Steve Ballmer is handing the Vista bashers a sh!tload more fodder....

Another couple of years worth of know-it-(nothing)alls sprouting regurgitated rhetoric... sigh.

Windows 7, which formerly known with codename of Blackcomb and Vienna, is the working name for the next major version of Microsoft Windows which is also the successor to Windows Vista. Windows 7 Milestone 1 (or Windows 7 M 1) code drop build version number 6.1.6519.1 (6519.1.071220-1525) has been released since January 2008 in both x86 and x64 versions, is now leaked for free BT (BitTorrent) torrent download. However, it’s not the Windows 7 M1 Build 6574.1 which has confirmed to be released by Microsoft.

Users and operating system tech enthusiasts who eager and can’t wait to tryout Windows 7 can now download and install the very first release on Windows 7 M1. But do remember that Windows 7 is still very early in beta phase, with expected release date of 2009 or 2010, more than 2 years from now. So this download is not for the fainted heart, and do expect lots of hiccups, bugs, and errors during installation and daily use. If you just intended to see how Windows 7 looks
