I did a fresh install and the button to scan things in MSE is still there, but the icon in the taskbar is gone.
    Hello Klaw,

See if manually running MSE from it's shortcut in the Start Menu adds it even after you close MSE.

If not, then restarting the computer may help if it will load at startup as it should.

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

If you get it, uninstall the old version first. It will save you from having to read this entire thread.

Installed MSE beta in XP mode a couple of days ago, regular MSE before that, not enough KIS 2011 licenses to go around HA HA. Have had no problems and would like to thank all forum members who recommended MSE because I have tried other free AV's but got sick of them connecting to the internet wanting you to buy their full version every time a scan was run.

MSE works as promised and am still surprised Microsoft came up with such a good product ( still loathing the previous feeble attempt AKA Windows Defender )
