I guess they were less than impressed with Microsoft's source code.

Note, they say optional in the main article. Running an OS is one thing, but the available apps are far more important.
Sorry, but OpenOffice != MS OfficeHe said use of the operating system would be optional for all agencies
Apparently they haven't looked at the "LINUX" source code
(I have, ugh, and actually am frequently having to deal with it and the maintainers complete randomness of cute coding quirks and oposition to any semblense of backwards binary compatibility even in "stable" kernel lines)
first post here, just felt the sudden urge to post this.
apparently mandriva linux was saved by an investor. investor = russia?
i heard mandriva was working with russia on something like an os.
take it for what its worth.
who knows, after all its russia.
but i read it on the mandriva forums somewhere. i could probably find it somewhere but im very lazy.
Perhaps it's not. However, for my home use, OpenOffice fits the bill just perfectly. Heck, even with a Microsoft Home Use Program where I can get Office 2010 Professional for just $9.95...I continue to use OpenOffice.
Why spent 1 cent on Microsoft Office, when i have a work laptop with Microsoft Office 2010 on it that I can use if I absolutely have to have office. Gives me money for lunch, movie rentals, etc.
