thanks s31,
I have multiple bups offsite as well (ie the removable trays). I never looked into online bups as I think it would be too slow, things may change when we get super fast broadband.
cheers

With the water cooling hoses the little trick I learned with the water filtration and UV sterilization hosing I used on my Marine fish tanks. Drop the hosing in just boiled water and allow it to soften. Cut the hosing to length and allow the hose to cool in it's best position, rotating it on it's fitting if possible. This also expands the hosing and when it contracts around the fittings it will be very tight but still use a clamp. Never use petroleum jelly or the like on any fittings.
In regards to Teflon tape please remove any tape that hangs off the end of the fitting as this trailer can be dislodged into the pump and totally foul it up. Use it only on the threads!
Agreed,
Its best to start from the end where the hose connects, go around a couple times, then work your way up the threads to the base.
Doing it in this direction will ensure the dags wont get caught in the pipeline.
Crazyeyeschase, what gas eats it up?
It seals oxy-acetylene connections pretty well.
Or perhaps we talking about different tapes...?
It doesn’t really eat it I should of rephrased my statement.
Teflon lubricates the threads and improves the water tightness of the joint. Another "better" suggestion would be pipe dope. You should not use regular white Teflon for gas connections they make a heavier yellow Teflon for gas connections.
It really depends on the gas being contained. If it's something like household lines that need inspected it needs to have yellow Teflon or pipe dope.
Like I said the white Teflon creates a water tight seal but gasses can escape seals a lot better than water that’s why the yellow Teflon is heavier. I don’t like doing a half butt job on gas lines why would you want to risk it? Once a small leak does form it doesn’t take long for it to become a large leak. Like I said it just depends on the Gas and a little personal preference.
