I had a great job making 14 an hour but they fired me after I missed a day because my house caught on fire. Oh on top of that this year (2010) I lost 2 grandparents, had a baby, bought a car, and moved. It has been a crazy and hectic year so now that I don’t have a job I have been working on our other house 24/7 can't wait to get it back into tip top shape were getting close. We have a trip set for mid Feb then the job hunt begins again but I won't be making nearly as much as I was L

Finally finished the hardware side of my machine (well nearly, tv pci card coming) now for the software.

It's taken a few iterations but this one all works well together.

    Cheers

Wow.... First off, nice illustration of the case, nice and easy to follow. I have to ask though, what on earth do you need over 5TB of space for....?

I suspect thobel works hard for his monies and the partners truly appreciate his work. I'm just wondering if he's in need of some additional help? Hey Thobel are you or the company hiring?
Careful - you don't know what sort of work he has to do

Well done on some damn nice looking rigs gentleman.

    james cullen,
You have assembled a wicked machine there. Great care in selection and installation of some fine components. You'll have to benchmark and post how it performs as it will likely have amazing scores.

    thanks guys

The storage is for the images I process.

The four wd1tb back up each other, the revo is for the initial image process, the vertex has the os on , the other vertex has a page file and a Photoshop scratch on, the 750 has a OS image on, and the esata will have my personal files on, the machine also has two removable bays. I can't afford to loose any data so it's all backed up a few times.

I had the OS on the Revo and it went very fast, I had some trouble with it working with the other PCIE cards so I change the OS to the Vertex, not as fast but fast enough and stable.

The initial WEI? score on this set up was 7.4, that was the GT460 score, the processor i7980x is 7.8, the ram 7.8, the ssd 7.5 and the vid card 7.4. The revo scored 7.9 when it was OS.

I'm just happy it's all playing nicely together, I can't wait for the programs to be loaded and I 'm actually working on it.

It's my first build and It's been fun and frustrating, I'd do it again though.

    James

Oh the case is great, lots of room and you can hide all those cables out back.

    James,
For a first build you went "Large" as they say! Glad the Revo is all worked out as I'm totally jealous of that sucker. Let's hope they continue to develop and drop in price. I flat out love the Corsair cases that's the 800D or 700D? To say it looks clean just doesn't do it justice. Again fine first build.....hate to see what you'll cobble together on your second build. lol

Thanks for the great illustrations. I really love that Corsair 700 case. Having the hard drives face out towards the side is the one thing that I really love with my Antec Sonata's that my current P182 simply doesn't have. Your wiring looks excellent.
