Optimal speed? It was burned at 4x and the setup ran perfectly when it came to the system boot failure.

On this forum, we also can not help anyone who has pirated software or does not have a valid key to install and validate the software. If you purchased a key, then you should be out of this catagory, but any key that was purchased without install media is subject to scrutiny.

Let us know before continuing further whether or not you have a purchased key that is validated and where you aquired this key. Depending on the source, it may not be valid. If so, we can probably help you get a valid key from MS through the process of installation.

Does he have windows 7 installed?
If he does, that key will most likely not work, since it has been registered.
Your best bet will be to obtain a key from microsoft, as Thorsen said

Most likely this is not good. when you install and then validate it, one of two things will happen. Either your computer will not validate, or yours will then his (if he is using the same key) will no longer be validated.

My advice is to go to a store and purchase a valid copy with its own key. you will not have the same issues as you have seen.

Also, there is a program on MS's site that allows you to check your current computer specs to see if it is completely compatible with Win 7.

Download details: Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor

Here is the upgrade advisor to see if your system can be upgraded to Win 7

When you do install, I would advise a clean install of Windows instead of an in-place upgrade from Vista. There are a few issues that have been seen.

A clean install will be the best install of windows you have ever seen. (I hope... It was for me)

As for your system specs, I would advise 32 bit instead of 64 bit as you only have 2G of ram.

Edit again: Got to go. good luck and post any questions. someone will be here to answer them. Also, welcome to SF. Hopefully you can get Win7 going soon.

Name of Tweaking app?
What's the name of this certain App? It had a black background/GUI, and it could tweak parts of W7, like disabling the Watermark, adding the "Take Control" thing on right-click menus, enabling DreamScenes, etc.
