    need a 300 dollar build

so im making a computer for my dad that is a 300 dollar or less build... need the hdd, mobo with intergrated graphic, case, cpu, psu, ram, and possibly monitor... this will be used for office purposes so pretty much be able to run outlook, word and the internet...

Dont care what cpu rig just keep it cheap, if AMD would like a Athlon II x2 or higher
if Intel prefer a i3 or higher

Also would like if the mobo is a micro atx (wanna save some space)

If you want a cheap machine that includes a license for a Windows OS, I'd suggest a refurbished machine.

Best I could do on Newegg was $304.92 ex freight. Could go lower if you go without the dvd drive, lower to 1Gb of RAM, use a Sempron, install Linux, install a smaller HDD, build it in a cardboard box... Yeah, $300 is going to be extremely difficult to hit if you want a Windows operating system to be included and a monitor. And I will assume that Linux isn't desired as you said your dad wants to use Outlook.

You do realize that the cheapest core i3 CPU is about $125 and the cheapest core i5 is around $180. Kinda hard to get everything else for $120.

Dell refurb, complete w/os is the only place you might come close for $300 or less

    Agreed,
@illway1 => Seriously.....an I3 as a minimum for a basic business computer, a little over kill don't you think. the Intel E5300 at 2.6 ghz will more than suffice for this build. You can run Outlook using crossover office if that is the only stopper, but Thunderbird can give you the same functionality including calendars (lightning add-on), tasks, etc for free and I doubt that he is running an exchange server or you would not be talking about $300 max for a build.

Crossover office available at: CodeWeavers delivers Compatibility for Mac and Linux. Your Windows Mac and Linux CrossOver solution - CodeWeavers
