SDD Drive from OCZ..Onyx Series 32 Gig.

$109.99 at Newegg (on sale), but only $79.99 at Buy.com (I have used them many times...good company). Free shipping as well. I love the egg, but $30.00 in my pocket is a good thing!!

    My Best,

    Michael

You have to be careful with Buy.com. If everything goes as planned, it's fine. But as soon as you have to rectify something they are very unresponsive. Not at all like NewEgg who are always on top of things.

32GB SSD from Newegg, $85 after rebate, $99.99 before.

Patriot PS-100 PS32GS25SSDR 2.5" 32GB SATA I/II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

    30GB SSD for $90,
Kingston SSDNow V Series SNV125-S2/30GB 2.5" 30GB SATA II Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Let the price drop, let's see what happens in Q4 when the 25nm flash comes out.

The problem with the Intel SSDs is that their sequential write speed is very slow. OCZs and even some spinning disks are better at that.

Agreed, but still some reputable sites, Tom's Hardware and Anandtech, give them an edge due to benchmark scores (though write scores are low) and actual usage performance.

The new Sandforce controllers are bumping hard on them, but they are holding back the recommendation until longer term stats can be gathered.
Intel is still the best bet, but the gap is narrowing.
Most SSDs with the Indilinx controllers are highly recommended, top of that list is OCZ.

Transcend JF V30 USB flash drive

Unfortunately, this will cater to a very small population in this forum... those that live within driving distance . But there is a Target store that has the Transcend JF V30 USB flash drives on clearance: 8GB for $9 and 4GB for $5 (I think). Just bought the 8GB drive yesterday.

Also, unfortunately, you gotta go to the actual store.
