Yep, sound quality is MUCH MUCH better with a separate audio card. On-board audio only offer a "basic" sound. However, only people like me or audio professionals needs those cards. Those cards also professional features that most of us won't probably never use. But, I buy it for the audio quality. It's also one of the reasons that motherboards still have a PCI port these days... not all sound cards has a PCI-Express x1 connection.
For me, it's a good purchase but for others it might be totally useless. :P
