Personally I wipe the stock paste as soon as I install..Artic Silver is my HS paste of choice.
Your not going overboard with your planned O/C so you should be fine with the stock cooler and there will be no need to overvolt.
To check stability download and run Prime95 Prime95 (32bit) - 25.11 Download - EXTREME Overclocking for at least a couple of hours.

Well if I do, does it matter much in the long run, or is it worth the extra degrees? and I heard you just put a pea size dot on the heatsink does it work like that or what do you recommend?

That is basically it, but there is not real NEED to do this. Unless you are replacing the heatsink with a non-stock model, I don't recommend it as it won't make a difference anyways.

Yes pretty much...however considering the O/C you're planning on its not really necessary to use an aftermarket paste. I have O/Clocked my rig by quite a large amount and I'm also running a TRUE Extreme CPU cooler with 2x120 fans in a push pull set up.
If I were you I would just run the standard air, and use Prime 95 to test and use something like RealTemp Real Temp - CPU temperature monitoring to monitor the temperature.

Another is the out of the box speeds. The AMD Phenom II X6 1090T comes from the factory clocked at 3.2GHz with a Turbo clock of 3.6GHz, while our AMD Phenom II X6 1055T comes at 2.8GHz with a 3.3GHz Turbo clock.

This is from legitreview is it wrong?
It isn't locked but It depends on the Mobo i have the phenom II X4 2.8 I got it to oc to 3.22 anything above that will cause bsod and reboot i have tryed many times to manual oc as to using a bios utility for oc

even though i cranked my cpu up to a 3.4 i think amd limits the lower cpu to a point that it wont be stable even if you achieved 4.0 ghz not all cpu's oc the same so get a decent oc and dont worry about the other guy runnig his cpu at 4.0ghz
if you want it to do that step the chip up and oc it from there and it will put less strain on the chip and save it's life for a while

Cannot overclock 1055T via BIOS
Hi, I have decided to overclock my AMD X6 1055T from 2.8GHz to 3.5GHz using a video tutorial on youtube (How to Overclock the AMD Phenom II X6 1055T 1075T - YouTube), I have followed all the instructions but when I have the settings to CMOS and restart to Windows it still says 2.8GHz and the BIOS...

Help to overclock Phenom II X6 1055T
This is a 2.8GHz stock CPU, mutlipliers are locked. I've been going with raising the FSB and volts and adjusting RAM settings. I'm aiming for 4.0GHz. I have had it to 3.7 but can't get back. When I raise the FSB to 286MHz the core 0 runs at .807GHz while the other cores are at 3.7. This board...

Amd 1055t?
AMD has the 1055T, 1075T, and the 1090T at 2800, 3000, 3200. So I'm going to buy the 1055T because it seems to me that the 1075T and 1090T is just a 1055T which has been overclocked. So the 1055T should last longer and be more stable?
