Got a nice upgrade in the works for my build, largely centred on CPU. I hope to free up some existing parts I use for a second lower grade build I can use to various other things.

Gonna make the step to ivy bridge, go for a 3770k to replace my 2600k, get a Asus p8z77-v Deluxe motherboard to go with it. Ill upgrade the psu slightly from a Corsair HX650 to AX650, and for cooling im tossing up between the corsair hydro series, but the h100 looks nice :P. Gonna be costly though...about 1.3 grand here in NZ...

    What do ya think?
You can save about $100 maybe by going with an i5-3570K and for about the same money for a AX650 you could get a HX750.

note: My cpu is overclocked to 4.4 Ghz w/speed step disabled my ram is manually set to its rated speeds of 8-9-8-24 @ 1600 mhz (1.65 v) i read good things about the patroit viper extreme D-2 so im going to try to oc it to 1866 most likely @ cl9 if im lucky 8-10-8-27 or close.
Damage, nice rig. You should be able to overclock your ram to 1866 no prob. See my post here. https://www.sevenforums.com/overclock...ml#post1967664

I currently have the HX650, I don't need a bigger PSU its rather that the other rig the parts are going to needs one and ive always wanted fully modular, i.e. corsairs AX series. Also I rank the CPU very highly in a build and having a "second" Cpu to to speak would bug the hell out of me. It comes from when I first wanted my own custom built, when I believed the CPU was the sole important component and wanted the best one I could get, regardless of what else had to be dropped for this, hence why I ended up with a 2600k but only a geforce 210 for a year until I could upgrade. back to the point, knowing my CPU didnt have hyper threading would annoy me so much and I would always have a niggling to upgrade it.

A good suggestion I would also advise to many, but given my situation I think its a "safer" choice.

Well yes, I was thinking to that also. I have behind cpu cooler one 80mm spire fan, and I was thinking to mount it on the heatsink, but I don't have screws to do that.
And I was thinking something else... If I buy 4pin fan, I don't have another 4pin connector on the mobo. It seems that I need to buy 3pin fan, to go with full speed always.
