Ok, Forum! Last test this year

So far, the system is stable and i got a little more juice out of the 16GB of RAM :) i was able to tight the timings up to 8-8-8-24 (CR1) with another s#!†load of numbers that i really can't remember right now... but i got them so tight that if i try to get them any tighter, the PC won't boot... I just tested the system with LinX for 5 runs (and man, that was some hardcore test) well, test passed with honors... 82.4175 GFlops max.

My WEI went up for the RAM (7.6 to 7.7 )

When i was messing into the UEFI BIOS, i realized that with my MB (MSI PH67A-C43) i have an overclocking feature for the CPU (but i really don't know how that works being my CPU a non "K" processor) thing is that i can bump the multiplier up to 32, i set it to 32 (meaning the processor should jump to 3.20GHz) and the BIOS sees it at 3.20GHz after saving the changes and rebooting, but when i go into windows, the processor stays at 2.90GHz (verified in CPU-Z) i still don't know what could be happening there i'll try to figure it out in a couple of minutes...

Meanwhile i'll leave some screenshots of the test, temps are AMAZING having a 27ºC room temperature, this Tt Frío rules!

EDIT: well, turns out that the CPU overclock is possible (i got it working and reported in CPU-Z) but it only goes up 100MHz (up to 3.00GHz) i guess it's a limitation for the non-K processors.. and since 100MHz is only a 3.44% OC, I don't know if it's really worth it.. i'll go to bed and check tomorrow your thoughts, Forum :) good night!

Nice work on the RAM Punkster.

Installed the new Noctua NF P12's on the CPU cooler today.

The Prime95 temps difference between the stock Corsair fans and Noctua fans.
    Stock 900-2550 RPMs, average temps:Low 60.75°C Med 47.5°C High 48°C
Noctua 600-1300 RPMs, average temps: Low 54.5°C Med 50.5°C High 48°C

Hyper 212 Plus air cooler at high speed was 56.5°C.

With stock fans the med setting was slightly cooler than the high setting, same results with several tests.
On the low setting the Nocs are much cooler.
    High setting are the same.

The biggest and best difference is the noise level, the Nocs are nearly silent at full speed, the stock fans are very loud at high speed, reasonable at low speed.

Dave did you buy the NF-P12s or the NF-S12Bs? The specs on the P12s I bought show 900/1100/1300 rpms. The S12s at the Noctua site show 600/900/1200 rpms. Or maybe the speeds have changed on newer models of the P12s.

Anyway, lower speeds/less noise and nearly the same temps even at the higher rpms. Works out well.

linnemeyerhere, yes, they are quiet and cool

Wordsworth, My Nocs are NF P12, the 900/1100/1300 speeds are with voltage regulated adapter cables, there are reviews that say the NF P12's will start spinning at about 600 RPMs, with a controller, and max about 1300.

    I'm enjoying the quiet

I think that may be correct on the 600 RPMs. I'd forgotten what the specs were and a few days ago looked at the specs again because I could not understand why my 120s (rear exhausts) are running at 900 (according to Aida64) when I set them in the BIOS to the middle setting. Without the adapters then, how I installed, they're more like 600/900/1100. Edit: I should say on this board as it's hard to tell how much juice goes to the fan motor on the middle setting.

The quiet is nice, especially if you use the box as an HTPC.
