    windude99,
You'll have the time of your life, I built my first system a few years ago and now I understand or don't why manufacturers paint you into corners with non-standard components. Actually I totally understand, it's so you can't upgrade and will replace every couple of years. I've learned valuable knowledge from that first build and learned from my mistake which I continued to the 2nd build and so forth and so on. All of this before I found this forum which has be like a revelation of knowledge and learning. I hope you find it as valuable as I have and if you can learn from our mistake and knowledge it will save tons of grief and monies !

When my pc (the pc pictured) didn't like my ssd, I was really disappointed. The sata controller is just some AMD controller. I don't know why this system didn't like the ssd. The ssd works really well in my laptop, so it's not the ssd. Except for that issue this system has been really solid. Building my own pc has always been something I have wanted to do ever since i knew it was even possible. Also, if you or anyone else can give me some tips to improve the cable management, that would be great. I am kind of limited because the case HP used is very shallow. From the fatory, the psu it came with had all of the unused wires bundled at the top of the case, which didn't look nice. Any ideas for improve my pc would be greatly appreciated.

    windude99,
I would just wait till you can build the next system. The case doesn't allow or the PSU being non-modular for a lot of options. Zip ties and such is about all you can do. I made this very mistake with my full tower case as it has limited pass through's and such so my cables mostly all show. Don't worry about this now as you don't even have a window on the case to look into it. The difference in case temps is zip and the only one who'll know what's going on inside is you.
If you start to add bigger GPU's and such you'll be changing out the PSU again (adding higher wattage) and at that time I would go much larger and modular, but again this will all be better at the time you start thinking about the case up. It's my opinion that a great build starts with a superior case and PSU and if bought right will outlast many CPU's, Mobo's, and GPU's. Spend wisely there and you're good for way down the road, saving tons of monies.

Yea, agreed. HP didn't want their systems to be upgradable I guess. When I build I will definitely choose a good case and psu, and not to forget, a good mobo. If I want to do much more upgrading, then I will need to rebuild, and I don't know how much my pc will like that. I will probably stick to this current setup because it can play dirt 3 really well and I can use virtual machines and everything else I want it to do. It is a well made machine, it just wasn't made to be upgraded that much. I'm amazed that it runs the Radeon HD 5670, a new power supply, and another harddrive. If I upgrade anything on that pc, it will be the OS, if Windows 8 is good.

Hi Guys. I was looking at my Tuffshed in the backyard and had a epiphany. Create a all in one room, where you can sleep, game, and eat.
Awesome, you modded an entire room.

Just got done putting in my new Cooler Master Hyper 212 heatsink. It barely fit into my 430 Elite case and there was some issues with getting the Heatsink's backplate on the back of the mobo, the hole wasn't in the correct position.
The Heatsink is huge compared to the old heatsink which had a 60mm or 90mm fan on it, I put Arctic Silver on it and there is already a 10C drop in temps, but I'll be playing Crysis 2 to get the thermal paste set in.
The second picture should be my old heatsink next to the box for the new one, knowing how big the 212 is, my old heatsink is a toddler compared to the 212
Sorry for the blurry pictures, I'm not very sturdy when is comes to taking pictures.

EDIT: Also while I was at Fry's Electronics I went over to the CPU display and all the Athlon and Phenoms are gone, has the FX series replaced all the other AMD CPUs?

I went to the one in Industry City. All the Phenoms and Athlons are gone, the manager then told me they were being deactivated and replaced with the FX series.
