In what country will he be purchasing?

Looks like you already chose a motherboard: Asus P8H61-M LE/USB3

The processor and motherboard are compatible.

I don't know about the RAM, not enough info. The Kingston may be fine.

    In Philippines.

I forgot to put the amount.

    Ok the formula.

    Lets say this

    P 45 = 1$

    Processor
    Intel Core i5 2400 3.1 Ghz = P 8,500.00 / $ 188.88

    Motherboard
    P8H61-M LE/USB3 = P 3,700.00 / $82.22

    Videocard
    Sapphire 1 gig HD5670 DDR5 = P 3,820.00 / $84.888

    Hard Disk
    Samsung or Western Digital 1TB = P 4,000.00 / $88.88

    Memory
    Kingstone 4 Gig DDR3 (2 Pcs) = P 1,240.00 / $ 27.5

    Monitor
    Samsung 21.5 LED = P 7,500.00 / $166.7

    Casing
    Orient 007 ATX 600 W (Red) = P 1,600.00 / $35.5

    Total $674

Well this are the max converted price i put.

    What about a power supply?

That looks like a pretty good system, if the RAM is compatible.

If you order from Microcenter, you can get a combo deal on a Core i5 2500k processor for $180 and a motherboard at $60 off.

Somebody else from the Philippines was asking about a system on this forum a week or so ago.

It seems that the power supplies available through most sources in the Philippines are unknown brands and may not be high quality.

A case and decent power supply in the USA would cost at least 100 dollars.

A decent 600 watt power supply alone would cost at least 70 or 80 dollars.

If you have no choice, I guess you need some good luck. But I would try to get a better power supply if possible. Not more powerful, just better quality.

A case with 600 watt PSU for 35 dollars is probably poor quality, but may work for a while. I'd worry about the PSU more than the case.

I agree. I would certainly be looking at a good PSU. I would guess that 600W PSU would be lucky to pull off 300-350W under load.

Technically, that build wouldnt need that big of a power supply, if its if good quality. 450-500W or so will be plenty.

Seriously, you do not want to skimp on the PSU.
    Might I suggest something like:
    Antec Neo 520
    Antec EarthWatts 500
    or
    Seasonic S12II 520

Antec, Corsair, and Seasonic are probably 3 of the better choices.
But depending on where you will be buying from, you may actually be able to a slightly bigger one cheaper.
None-the-less, a good quality 450W or more is all youll need.

For a case, the Antec 300 is pretty nice and not very expensive either.

Just like the other members stated above no decent power supply can be had for 35 dollars

The best thing to do is look for a case that you can put your own PSU in it

If your brother is playing mainstream games i would look for a better video card

Im not sure if Tigerdirect.com would ship to where you are but for the amount of $650.00 there are deals to be had you have to look a little harder

I think with the money you have available you could get a little more bang for your buck

you could even go AMD for a little cheaper hardware still would perform well
