As well given the use vs. cost, don't want to over build.

That's 260 to 300, excluding CPU.
If you can go to $500, the logical choices are Intel 2500 if not overclocking (210) or the 2500K if you are (230).
Non-overclocking total 260 plus Intel 2500 = 470
Overclocking total 300 plus Intel 2500K = 530.
You can make minor adjustments on that--8 GB RAM, stepping down slightly to Intel 2400, etc.
Anything seriously wrong with that?
Motherboard brands if overclocking: Asus or Gigabyte. Choose the one with the features you need. No need to go hog wild.
RAM: G Skill, Crucial, or Corsair: 1.5 volt, 240 pin ordinary stuff.
Hard drive: WD, Seagate but not the 7200.11 series, Samsung; whatever your budget allows.
DVD: commodities; shouldn't matter. I use Samsung.
Cooler: stock Intel unless you are significantly overclocking. The Freezer 64 has a good rep if it will fit.
You'd have to confirm that your existing power supply has correct connectors. If it is from the last 3 or 4 years, it should.
You can use your PSU and add these fine products as well.
Don't under buy on the case or PSU as they will or should outlast all the other items and soldier on through several revisions.

Could you give more information on the (Mobo 110) so I know exactly what I'm shopping for? does this board include onboard graphics? or do you recommend utilizing my old Sapphire Radeon HD 3470 card or something newer?
Also could you please clarify the Ram 4GB or 8GB?
As I understand it, the Intel 2500 is the CPU I would need?
I just looked at Corsair's carbide series 300r case and Professional series HX650W PSU, This PSU may be overkill for what you mention, but if I go with a video card I don' want to get caught with my pants down!

The Intel processors INCLUDE graphics. You don't need a separate card if not gaming.
Stand by. I'll go to Newegg and see what I can come up with for all components.
Windows 7 runs fine with 2 GB RAM. I have 4 GB RAM and rarely use over 3 GB.
Many people get 8 because RAM is so cheap now, but they don't often use it up.

Ram is cheap currently and I would look to get mobo approved ram in at least 2x4gb sticks and leaves two empty slots for growth if desired later.
