HELP ME i HAVE NEVER OVERCLOCK TELL ME HOW

Hello Sevenforums,I would like some other opinions on this subject please. Latley there have been many post showing up from people who have NEVER overclocked there processor wanting someone to give them step by step instructions to achieve this gole. I fully understand the excitment because it happen to me but I did not go to a forum and ask for all the settings that would make this happen I did a little work on my own I read, watch videos and tryed to learn at least some of the basic concepts involed. Did I steal some ideas along the way? Of course I did but taking those risked were on me if I made a mistake....Which I did I burn out the memory controlers on my processor...That was on me. I don't know perhapes I am off base here but when it comes to overclocking even two people with identical boards may not have the same settings and this site has to good a reputation to have peeps going around saying my system got borked from overclocking advice I receved at Sevenforums.
    Thanks KM35

P.S I am not saying I have seen members doing this I just beleive these people should be givin a link where they can learn about overclocking then if they still have a question and need advice maybe it will mean something to them.

I rarely reply to posts containing anything along the lines of "please help me overclock, give me all the settings. Thanks. Bye." If a person is truly interested in overclocking, they should read and understand the basics. -This isn't a jab at you Kellymac, I understand the post title was to attract attention to the subject

If I understand your post correctly, you are saying you have seen people complaining about bricked processors after receiving instruction from OCers here.Like you mentioned: I have yet to see any posts in my year worth of lurking/6 months worth of posting that have given step by step instructions that resulted in a bricked chip.

Overclocking has risks, you have to be willing to accept responsibility if something goes wrong with your overclock. As you said, no two chips overclock the same.

Having the same MOBO, Processor, and ram does not mean you can achieve the same overclock safely. There are other factors: MOBO revision #, PSU, cooling, etc that need to be considered before venturing into overclocking.

That being said I have no issue helping someone achieve a greater overclock when they understand the basics, but I tend to shy away from giving advice to individuals who show no understanding of the basic process to help protect not only their hardware , but the reputation of SevenForums.

I agree that if someone who has no idea about overclocking and just wants to be hand held without bothering to do at least a little research themselves are annoying. They irk me too.

In the past I used to give links like you're talking about, but more often than not they would ignore the link and just ask for settings instead. I'm happy to help those are willing to learn a little themselves, or explain some parts they don't understand. But for those that don't, I simply ignore those threads now.

    Hi
Overclocking to me is more as an adventurous procedure though it actually isn't.
I've learned the basic multiplication calculation in combining the processor clock, board clock, memory, and the GPU overclock. but we share it in the real group not in the forum as it involves great risks, not to mention all additional best cooling hardware required. Keep the processor cool is easy but not for the mobo.
Some vendor include it in their utility disk or even in the BIOS. I myself not running it for daily task, more, now Intel include the memory controller inside the processor chip, more heat dissipation (might) affect the controller behavior (but I could be wrong).

So my point is. If we are interesting in overclocking then gather with group of real overclocker people. Reading is just for learning purpose.

I stay safe, and save my rig.

I'm too apprehensive about all those settings to mess with them even though i've read I can possibly get my dimm slot that's not reading to recognize my last 4 GB RAMby trying a few different things.

I don't have the knowledge or experience and I'm not willing so long as everything remains faster than my last machine.
