No problem, if you connect an ohmmeter to the switch, you should get continuity or a beep when you move the switch to on, and nothing when it's off since the circuit will be open.
So to check yours just touch the leads to each terminal, if you don't get a beep it is in the normally open position, by moving the toggle to the other position you should get a beep or low resistance until you let go of it. (It wont die out it will stop pretty abruptly)
If that is what you get when checking then your switch is working.
Like I mentioned above when pointing to that other article, you probably want to follow the way the switch is wired. On your switches, what terminal is the bottom one in the picture I reposted of yours?
