    Ram speed and timings etc

I just got an 8Gb kit (2x4) Corsair Vengeance but can only get it to run at 1333, it should go to 1600, but no matter what I have done it wont change.
Set up in Bios to 1600, AMD so can't use XMP profile ! 1333 is spd timings at 1.5 volt, however advertising says 1600 and quotes 1.65 volts, mine and apparently lots of other peeps will revert to spd and 1333.
Should I change the voltage ?
I did have Patriot ram which ran 1600 at 1.65v but only 4Gb.

    As an aside I got a 128Gb OCZ SSD.....................wow!

Which slots do you have them in? The manual recommends A2 and B2 for 2 sticks,

Also, you have the latest bios (1102)?

Thanks for that, yes all as you say. I should just say that it's not an overclock, it's how they should run. The sales info for them says 1600 voltage 1.65 but the spd for them is 1333 at 1.5v.
If you look up Corsair's spec for them it says spd 1333 at 1.5v but tested to 1600 !

    False advertising ?

No it's not, it is me using Asus AI utility which says 667 max bandwidth therefore 1333.
However the Bios reports 1600 at post and in setup, here's what CPU ID reckonsRam speed and timings etc-dram.jpg

Which one you do you think I believe ?

    Thanks for the thoughts.

What the bios and CPU-z show. I have never found the Asus utilities to be particularly useful or accurate, and the latest version has to be one of the most bloated pieces of junk I have come across. Do yourself a favor and uninstall any Asus utilities and use any of the other free and far better options out there.

Must have been a moment of weakness or something but I gave the latest version a try when I got my current motherboard (the bigger brother of yours), and after trying it out for a bit, restored my system using an image I made beforehand as there is just no ay that a normal uninstall would have removed everything that got installed.

I have the same ram and have it running 1600mhz depends on your board as well

Soon as i got the ram i used XMP and brought it to 1600mhz right away but take into mind depending on the CPU it will be limited my cpu supports 2100 Oc'ed meaning when i run anything higher then 1333 mhz will run at higher clock speeds if your cpu wont allow it then that's the problem

I actually Oc'ed this ram and on top of it you can Oc up to 1800mhz 1.5v with out turning up the voltage 2000 mhz with 1.65 voltage

Thanks guy's it's sorted now running at 1600 (for now !) I can feel an OC comming on.

I knew it was solved after I changed the Bios setting again and used 1600 as an OC profile. Soon as I went to WEI page it said needs refreshing new hardware found. So I let it..................made no difference whatever, anyway I'm content.
