Thanks for the update. Looking at the board and all the Foxconn connectors, one would assume the board was made by them. Even the plastic CPU socket protector has Foxconn on it.

This thread reminds why I always buy the CPU and motherboard locally. The first build I did the mobo had to go back and the turn around was long. After that I said no more. I just hope Micro Center remains open in this area plus a couple of mom and pop stores that remain.

I do buy memory and drives from Newegg and I've never had a problem, yet.

I never had a problem with newegg, until this time with the motherboard. I got it back yesterday and examined it with a magnifying glass and did not see any bent pins in the CPU socket. ASRock should have done the right thing and replaced it since it did have an initial problem (the two memory slots). But to cut my losses, I sent it back for "out of warranty" replacement (including the $50). At least (hopefully) I'll get a working board. The replacement board, according to customer service is an "OEM packaged" board from their manufacturing facility, which one would assume will be a new board (since this is a relatively new model board).

But I've learned two lessons from this (1) no more purchases from newegg and (2) no ASRock motherboards.

Here is a picture with the new gigabyte motherboard installed. I used the stock Intel CPU cooler, temporarily. I have a liquid cooled unit but I have to tame the noisy fans before I can use it in my recording studio.

Great job with the install. Looks empty without a GPU or any cards...lol.
