I'm doing well with the chip and when I pulled the cooler off the quad 965 I was blown away at how nice and even the paste had spread! I used the same method which is a modified micro pea size in center with four dots outside of that in a square ! This time instead of Freeze I used Arctic Silver.

All you need now is some liquid Nitrogen and that baby will rock.

I am looking for the Piledriver release for my next step. I have the proper MB and Ram running a Phenon II X6 1100 now.

I was vacillating on waiting as well but the net price I got this at was just too good to pass up.

how does this pair against the phenom ii's? I heard the six core phenom ii x6 cores seem to be a bit better then the 8cores FX. Not sure if this is true but wondering because i plan to upgrade in the future and i have 2 open options and that is to either go for a phenom ii or a fx.Not upgrading any time soon but probably later on if I get a chance.

Both are great chips. I pulled the trigger as the cost for performance was in my ball park. If you find the 8120 like I did for 149.00usd delivered or less then really how on earth can you go wrong?

Exactly in the end I got mine for the same price and well worth it the 8150 has dropped to 199.99 the previous 8120 price I considering getting a pile driver chip later on and a new board and see how that will fair in the future

I would be doing this to replace the rig i have set up for my daughter and give this one to my parents house but that would be future future plans

Allan Have you figured out what you plan on doing with the Gskill you get it to speed or is it still giving you issues ?

My main reluctance to upgrade my processor, is that I'm not happy with the motherboard I have, even though it is supposed to be able to handle a Bulldozer. That would mean buying both a new MB and processor at the same time, which I'm not much inclined to do...unless there is some compelling reason for the expenditure, other than feeding my cyber fetish. I don't think that the performance increase would be all that much for me, so is there anything special that this processor would provide that I don't already have that would tilt the scales?

The Fx chip Enhances the Quality of any AMD Gpu you are running thus giving it a little uhmpphh persay

The chip is made to be paired with the 6 series and above HD Gpu's

It really helps It's not all about Benchmarks it's about what AMD is trying to do with thiere Technology
