I tell eveyone with new build issues, but go and reconnect everything. It could be something isn't fully seated. I have even pulled out the GFX card and RAM and switched slots. I have found I have for gotten to connect something too.

I did that of course. I also disconnected everything that was not essential to boot to windows and still the problem and only getting worse actually.

Thank you, Gene and I do wish you a lot of luck. That sounds like a real different type problem. I don't recall ever hearing anything like it. I hope the new board works much better, but it's still a pain. I never like building the same computer twice. Best of luck on your new board.

Best of luck to both of you! Gene, disconnect the speakers to see if the noise stops.

    Sorry, I couldn't help myself.

Oh my god, it did! Following that lead I disconnected all those noisy fans and it ran real quiet but then all of a sudden it completely stopped working. Any ideas?

You now when I was trying to decide on a replacement MB I read the reviews from the reviewers. Lots of motherboards with good performance reviews by reviewers but lots of these mid tier boards had like 20-30% 1 star reviews on the buyer's review boards like newegg and Amazon and most of those were DOA or failed after two days or failed after a month or two or this major thing didn't work or that didn't. So I wasn't too devastated. Now I might be if the replacement is a dud.

Perhaps a ground issue with the front panel header? A Guy

I am using the same header from my previous board - they are pinned out the same and I didn't change anything just unplugged it from one and into the other - but I checked. It is some fairly loud high frequency noises and chirping - that changes with the graphics. And it was was working fine with no problem for a day and it was getting louder over time so I've shut it down. Thanks though, but it is off and I hope history now.

Well things are not happy in toyland. I was getting fairly frequent mouse freezes. While I was investigating that late last night I thought I had started loosing my mind. I was hearing faint voices - I had my PC speakers muted in windows. Well it started getting loader. It turns out in windows, anytime I moved the mouse or graphics changed, I was getting weird noses on my speakers. I verified that this only happened with my gts450 and not the iGPU. I doubt it is my grap[hics card, so it may be this board is already needing replaced after a couple of days
    Just a FYI.

Hope this issue is resolved by now.
