    Is this a misprint???

The highest clockspeed I got this Phenom II X6 to before it started not wanting to OC anymore was 5.8GHz with stock cooling. CPU temp reached 70'C. However it was only temporary speed.
5.8GHz!....on stock cooling..... and it only hit 70c! WOW....Not even Intel's i7-980X can do that!

    My Stats

AMD 1090T, XFX 5770, Corsair DDR 3 1300 9CAS, Crosshair IV MB - I had this comfortably OC'ed at 4.1 GHZ but backed it down as I did not perceive any benefit with app or game performace. I currently have an XFX 5870 on the way to round out the mix. HAF X Box (with added 200mm fan on top), H50 Push/Pull cooling, Corsair 850 Pro power.

Wow, how do you keep temps down to 15C on processors?

Its a Celeron M 520 on the stock air cooler, the only thing I had to do was bring the RAM timing up as it was unstable 1t 4-4-4-16. the new clocks are 4-6-6-20. The only thing I plan on using this old laptop for is Seti@home, or Primegrid@home of F@H(I cant decide lol).

Basicly its running at 1.9 Ghz from 1.6 GHz( I might try for 2.0Ghz if its stable) ohh and I get nice temps .

Core I7 980X Overclocked to 4 Ghz (was orig OC'd to 3.73 Ghz by Alienware) - I upped the Core Turbo Multipliers from 28 to 30 in Bios. Only 1 HD 5970 Video Card.

That's a pretty good voltage reading - 1.056v. What's your QPI/Vtt voltage and CPU VCore voltage set to in your BIOS?

    Also your temps reading?

    As a random question:
I ran Prime95 while I went to class for an hour, and when I came back, my computer was frozen. Keyboard and mouse lights were off, screen frozen on the screensaver.

Perhaps this means my CPU isn't stable at FACTORY clock?

    Nice rig, runs very cool.

The core speed idle issue, do you have EIST enabled?

If you don't, I'd say Core Temp is reading core speed wrong.

Did you get that Intel OC'ing app?

Pretty low core voltage, is that normal for the I7 980X?
