Ha ha - that's usually the way. I built a strong 775 system 2 weeks before the release of 1366

Resist mate - you are at least in a very good position to wait for the invariable revisions, price drops and end-user feedback etc

Your i7-950 and my system are still by no means slouches of any kind whatsoever.
But.... that 2600K..... it.... looks so.... good.... and the performance..... wow!

But you're right. And trust me, cooler heads will prevail as there's no way I can justify a new system on top of my less than year old i7-950 system

Still, that 2600K is quite impressive....

Well I have a birthday coming up in a few weeks and decided I'm going to treat myself to a 6950 to replace my aging 4890

Looks really good, 60 is not bad for that frequency, like you mentioned it won't be cranked up that often.

That RAM has a JEDEC #4 that's higher than the XMP, at a lower voltage, don't see that too often.

I was just looking at the first post and noticed that GPU-Z's link should be updated to the v0.5.0.

I was hoping people could comment on my modest OC. I seems very stable and I'm sure I can push it more in time as I continue to learn. Please offer thoughts and ideas. If you run a 965 then please let me know what you've found to be a good setting combo. My system spec's are complete below ! Cheers, the Cheese

Well, I don't have a quad-core, currently running a dual-core 5400+ (2.8 OC to 3.1), but from what friends have told me and from reading up online, the more cores there are the less likely you are to get a decent overclock... So as far as I'm concerned, going from 3.4 to 4.0 with a quad-core sounds damn good to me!

What sort of temps do you get under load? Or are those under load...? Not sure if you already have it, but OCCT's CPU stress test generates a couple graphs at the end of the test that show your speed in MHz, temps and power consumption for the duration of the test. You might want to check it out..

    ZaLith,
The posting above was at idle. Normally the CPU will only gain 5-6 degrees when pushed but I will load a good stress program and give it a run or two to see how the cooling holds.

I vaguely remember seeing that thread a long time back, but I never got to save the link... Don't think I ever actually finished reading it. Lol.

Edit: I think I just realised why I didn't ever finish it, most of that thread is aimed at overclocking Intel systems, not AMD... But still, there are tips there that will help regardless of the CPU choice.

If you check some of these same sites listed above they have AMD OC guides and forums
