So, after days of fighting with a Phenom II x3 740 Black Edition, I managed to work a deal with a friend of mine and get me a Athlon 6000+ Brisbane to replace my 5400+. XFX tech support is, well, not very supportive on a good day, and my motherboard doesn't seem to want to play nicely with any Phenom II chips...

I've lost a bit on my memory speeds, but the 6000+ doesn't seem to like 220MHz core speed... I haven't played with any voltages yet, might do that over the weekend if I have some free time. But for the moment, at least I'm up from 3.1GHz to just over 3.3GHz:

Since i finally got my new pc then now its ready to go public (clocked it to 14 GHz while drunk and after that it crashes so hard every few days so only way to reboot is to power off PSU)

I like how you arranged those windows.

Would be wierd if u didn't like it...

OC'ed to 4 GHz... gonna start everest burn stress and post new pics in the morning (2 AM here (atleast i think its AM ))

not gonna give u my promised pics... OC'd to 4 and stability test crashed my PC took it down again and so far no crashes . alltough its only 3 months old PC im allready thinking of getting new CPU, PSU and GPU

This is my 24x7 i5-760 @ 3.81 GHz, 1600 MHz RAM. C1E on, speedstep off. Under full load the core voltage is at 1.21V and it runs about 63c (under Prime95). Idle 1.08V and 38c.

Working on a review of the Maximus 4E board and just tossed up a nice OC on air. Haven t fine tuned the settings yet but I did get it stable on AIDA64 Stress tests for over 2 hours.

Thought I would test my cpu to find the "wall"

Seems to be 5.1ghz , which I might add is totally stable.

    Requires alot of voltage though.

Frio does a great job keeping it cool at this speed and voltage , hit 82c after 10 mins of prime.

Hi Jeepman , tbh I find it too dam easy to clock these new sandybridge cpu's its far too straight forward.

I think they all vary alot on what voltage they need to hit high overclocks , mine needs 1.36 iirc to be stable at 4.6ghz , 1.46 for 5ghz and 1.5 for 5.1ghz , its far too much voltage to be chucking at it for a 24/7 in my eyes , but certainly interesting to see how far they can go.

I read a review earlier where they achieved a 5.1ghz oc with 1.46v so like I say it certainly varies.

Shame I hit a wall at 5.1 , would post but couldn't get into windows at 5.2ghz no matter what.

All good fun till ya fry it lol.

As most people say , if you can't afford to replace it , don't do it. If you can then knock yourself out

    Paul.

Yes it is very easy to oc these chips...highest I've tried was 5.0ghz@1.38ish if I remember right but did not stress test it ....It did boot fine and ran it for about an hour playing mp3's and web hunting(forgot I put it that high...lol) I'll try again here in a day or two see what I can hit(& get snips of)

I seen a review, can't remember which one but they hit 5.2@aound 1.5v on air.

Mine is 4.5@1.23 Stable 24/7 so maybe I can hit 5.2@1.5ish and boot...It's a lot of volts!! Kinda nervous..
