I'm definitely impressed with what that lowly 920 can do when coerced! I used to be a dual-Xeon E-ATX board kind of guy, but this thing is more than a match as a desktop workstation at 1/3 the price and 65% power consumption! The cooler gave me a fright it's so tall, the case side cover just about scrapes the top (the MB is vertically mounted).

Here's a graph at the 2-hr mark. It's hot but hopefully not damaging hot ... the CPU hangs around 65-66 and the cores between low-mid 60s and mid-high 70s.

    E8500 (3.16ghz) @ 422x9.5=4009ghz - 1.26volts

Satisfied hitting 4ghz. Having tried going higher since the system is on 24/7. Once I get my Q9550 I might crank it up to see how far it can go.

Intel Core 2 Duo E4500 @2.20GHz overclocked to 2.90GHz on stock voltage. Does anyone know what the max safe voltage is for an E4500?

I'm running a Q9550 (2.83ghz) at 3.2ghz on the Intel stock cooler. I changed it from original 333 x 8.5 to 400 x 8. I'm 100% satisfied with my speeds here, and it's 1:1 with my RAM. My temps barely moved from 2.83 to 3.2.

For some days I've spent hours trying to get the max stable OC I can, after downsizing from 12 to 6GB to get more memory speed, since I propbably don't need all that capacity. But I didn't seem to be able to get too much stability and I charted my changes and results to get some clue on which changes were best. I'd go from doing BIOS settings to Windows 7 mem test at the boot menu, and back to the BIOS, making note of settings & results. But the standard Win 7 tests would often crap out.

Long story short, apparently when I removed the three chips spmething was left a bit off. I swapped the ones I had left with the ones I had removed, made sure they were seated right, and suddenly it was hard NOT to get stable repeatable Windows 7 mem test. Wheew!

So now I have a very stable 4020GHz in turbo mode, DDR3-1824 @ 9-9-9-24. It passes the extended mem test, all 2hrs+ of it, during more than half of which it says "I'm 21% done" what's up with that? Maybe they should have a second % indicator for the 21% done time . I think it was written by the same programmer who did the progress indicator in the file copy dialog :).

The funny thing is my memory WEI is the same as when I had DDR3-1475, 7.9 that is .
